Lincoln Mkz Mileage Claims

By John S.

This is not a complaint, but a compliment. I've been a Lincoln owner since 2008 MKZ being the third Lincoln I've owned. Today I noticed that Honda is being sued for false mileage claims and it occurred to me that I've been the victim of exactly the opposite. The sticker on my MKZ advised me to expect 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Well, both of those have proven to be incorrect. I've never received less than 22 mpg in city driving nor less than 31 mpg on the highway. I'm a prudent driver and often drive at or 5 mph below the posted speed limit and by doing that I've realized as much as 35.5 mpg on a 500 mile trip. So, thanks to your engineers for exceeding my expectations...and thanks to your marketing people for being so conservative. I hope to continue to be a satisfied Lincoln owner. I have a 2011 Fusion Hybird, I try hard to keep the speed limit (I may have slipped a few times) and my mileage is a solid 38-42 average on a tank of gas. I am at near sea level (about 50-250 ft above sea level elevation) and my temputure have ranged so from the lows in the teens to summer time teputures in the high 90s. It seems The hybrid need to get warmed up then it starts getting better mileage. During a cold morning, my trip average is the high 30s mpg but get above 45f it starts improving into the low 40s mpg. It is a truly great car, I wished Ford would push the car on TV and in the press as a way for the USA to stop getting," henpecked by the OPEC" with style and comfort.
