Ltd To Mustang

By John B.

My first car was a dark green re-possessed 1965 LTD convertible, 289 automatic with a bad motor and broken rear glass. Well, I replaced the bad motor with a fairly new 289 and had a new rear glass window installed. The car was a blast, especially with the top down. But that wasn't fast enough, I swapped the 289 for a 390 4-speed; then moved to a used '69 Mach 1, 351W, auto. I regret that I fell from the "Ford Family" for some years having a need for (gasp) mini-vans as children came along. But, I came "home" with a 2008 Mustang GT 5-spd that was just the best, that is until the 2011 5.0 came around. So, now, some 40 years after that first "re-po" LTD, I'm back in a very fast, sweet 5.0 GT, a car that will stay with most sports cars twice the cost and still gets 26 mpg! I wished I could have kept all those Fords, especially the Mach 1, but it still lives on with the fellow I sold it to 37 years ago. We now have a 2011 Fiesta as well and promise not to stray from the "Ford Family" again. Ford is the best!
