Explorer SVT

By Andy L.

The new Explorer has all the muscular design cues of a performance suv, yet there is no svt derivative.  The sport model has some cute engines, where is the Jeep srt/Land Rover Sport/Porsche Cayenne competitor?  Elevating the Exporer platform with a true luxury version with big power, sportier/refined interior and a more aggressive front/rear fascia would create a real option for those seeking that level of suv.  As a Ford fan, in need of a suv for now, I have no choice but to continue spending my money with your competitors, please bring me back.  A Explorer svt with a Coyote 5.0 would seem lighter and faster than a srt Grand Cherokee.  I have a shoehorn if you need to borrow it.

to me the Grand Cherokee SRT 8 is part of the equation however. The quality of chrysler is horrible, so I cant bring myself to purchase. Put FORDS name behind something like this, and I am in. The explorer has everythign I want for the family hauler.. the sport is a good option, but SVT would make it that much sweeter

I think that an SVT Explorer with some sort of powerful V8 would be an incredible addition to the Explorer lineup. This would mean these trim levels could be available if this idea took off: Base, XLT, Limited, Sport, and SVT. These trim levels would make the Explorer  a much better competitor to the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and the Porshe Cayenne. Please take this idea into consideration.

Yeah, That sounds like a great idea, but I really don't beleive the current platform will work. My thought is Ford figured the Explorer is geared towards the regular mass of people vs a one off model. Ford's thought was how many units can they sell vs cost.
