self charging vehicles

By Kirk R.

I am a huge ford fan, have been all my life. All the vehicles I have owned have been fords and have been great! It seems electric vehicles are the wave of the future. Why not have one that has a fan or fans mounted behind the grill, that are driven from the air as you drive, like the turbines on a wind farm. This would continually charge the batteries, thus they would never need charging. (other than an initial charge.) You could drive as far as you want and not have to stop! Thanks

. 'Serial Hybrid' uses electric motors "exclusively" to drive the vehicle and the combustion engine is used to drive a generator to power the electric motors and re-charge batteries. Diesel-Electric trains do this very well. The "combustion engine" could be a small power plant that uses fuel cell tech, or Natural Gas, or gasoline then engine size does not have to large. The electric motor has a lot of torque so it can handle any load or any application. Siemens has been around and produced electric motors since the late 1800s. Ford and Siemens could combine: Ford engines and vehicles with Siemens electric motors, controllers and other electronics to produce a planet loving vehicle product.

I like the idea, if Ford could find a way to reduce energy loss between the generator and the battery I think it would be a very appealing feature for not just all electric cars, but hybrids as well.

My son also had this idea. I think it's brilliant. There are so many ways to capture energy!
