Sell Direct, remove dealers

By Kyle K.

We are well into the 21st Century. The existence of Ford Social proves that Ford cares about changing times. Other than for test drives, why do dealerships still exist? I dislike dealing with salespeople when I already know what I want. I would love to be able to quote my vehicle configuration on your website, place the order, then pickup my vehicle directly at your factory. Aside from convenience, another advantage garnered would be affordability. Cutting out dealers and selling direct to consumers would allow Ford to either lower prices or raise profit margine by whatever dealers currently get on each sale. The test drive problem mentioned above could be solved by Ford subsidizing one day vehicle rentals from car rental companies who rent Ford vehicles. The cost of those rentals would be offset by the savings from removing the dealerships' cut from the equation.
