Bought the truck 5 years ago with 98K. Approaching 200K today. Hauling a work trailer and driving on these mountain roads in SE KY – VA – WV. I do geological work on natural gas wells out in remote areas. It has required suspension maintenance, which can be expected in this rough terrain, but the truck has been great over these years! still tight and dependable! I love my work truck!!

'Serial Hybrid' uses electric motors "exclusively" to drive the vehicle and the combustion engine is used to drive a generator to power the electric motors and re-charge batteries. Diesel-Electric trains do this very well. The "combustion engine" could be a small power plant that uses fuel cell tech, or Natural Gas, or gasoline then engine size does not have to large. The electric motor has a lot of torque so it can handle any load or any application. Siemens has been around and produced electric motors since the late 1800s. Ford and Siemens could combine: Ford engines and vehicles with Siemens electric motors, controllers and other electronics to produce a planet loving vehicle product. I have read several ideas from others that suggest the same thing. The technology is here now. I realize that no other car maker is working on this, but, Ford should do this. By using a small engine to turn a generator, an EVs range would be limitless. The torque produced by the electric motors in a 'serial hybrid' configuration could power commercial trucks.
