The common complaint for current EVs is that the batteries take up too much space and are heavy. Why not use the truck platform for the vehicle and lay the batteries out underneath the truck bed? Properly insulated batteries under the bed would be unobtrusive and put weight over the rear wheels that would otherwise have low traction when empty. This would mean that a 2wd truck would not be useless! Electric motors would mean instant torque from a stop and in high quantities, as well, perfect for towing and hauling. The small truck platform would be perfect because it would fill the void left by the discontinuation of the Ranger. A zero emissions Ranger would not be subject to the same problems that the old Ranger faced regarding fleet mileage and Cafe regulations. The weight saving principles from the new F-150 could also be applied here to further the effectiveness of a "green" truck.
