My first Ford was actually my dad’s 1985 Ford Ranger XLT. He ordered the truck new in 1985, and he used it to travel with his job. For five years, he used the truck to travel Pennsylvania, until his company gave him a business car in the 1990’s. In the 90’s and early 2000’s, the truck mainly sat in our garage. The vehicle was only used during major snowstorms and various hauling trips. It wasn’t until I started driving in 2006 that the truck was used again full time. I drove it throughout my high school years and during my four years of college to commute. Basically, wherever I have been, the truck has gone with me. After I graduate from college this May, I am returning the truck its original owner. I will move to New Jersey to start a new job, and the truck will stay behind in Pennsylvania, where it belongs. I purchased a new Fusion to go with me to Jersey. It has its perks, but it won’t have the memories of the 85 Ford Ranger. The truck will stay in the family for years to come.
