I’ve owned two vehicles in my life and they still run strong. The first was an 84 F-150. I was the fifth owner. Some of the previous owners did not diligently do the maintenance on a regular basis. I’ve now got 387,00 miles on that 302 ci 5.0 liter.I then bought another used vehicle which is a 99 F-350. It already had 30,000miles on its 5.4 liter or 330ci gasoline engine. I’ve known the diesels such as the 7.3, 6.0 etc were good on miles and maintenance but knew little of the 5.4 gas when I acquired the vehicle. It is now 11 years old and has topped 200,000 miles which does not surprise me as its a Ford. However what still amazes me is the maintenance. I’m very strict on oil changes, radiator fluids, fuel filters and common maintenance. Other than stuff like this I have only had the alternator replaced. Other than paying $160.00 for a new alternator I’ve not had to fix anything. Its all original and it still starts up and performs as if new whether I’m driving to work, pulling heavy trailers, or shifting her into 4 wheel to go off road.I think that’s pretty good, because I’ve got two great trucks that have plenty of years left in them and between the two separate purchases of both cost me a combined $12,000 dollars to acquire them. Some folks like having the newest most in style vehicles, myself I’d rather save money and keep driving until some environmentalists make gasoline use illegal.
