The last three vehicles I’ve had have been Ford F-150’s and when I started traveling with work earlier this year I knew that I was going to need to step up from my single cab, 2 wheel drive into something that would handle the mountains and some winter driving. My wife and I live in Southeast Texas and we dont get to see a lot of winter weather.
I bought a used 2009 F-150 Lariat 4X4 that was in Excellent condition with a bit higher mileage than I cared for but, Hey, it’s built Ford Tough right? Made a trip at the end of March up to Salt Lake City did a job there, and came home then it was up to the Texas Panhandle. After that, We decided that getting a travel trailer might be a more efficient way to live rather than doing motel on these long jobs. So, we ended up with a 30ft 2013 Ultralight 5th wheel RV Installed the hitch and lighting kit and havent looked back. My wife and I have been through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Rockies, Utah, across Donner Pass on I-80, down to Sacramento, Los Angeles, then across Interstate 10 and back into the Houston area. Altogether since we bought the truck it’s had about 20K miles put on it, and over 15K pulling the RV. We kept up with the oil changes and regular maintenance and average 8mpg while pulling. (Thats really good!)
My next vehicle is going to be a Ford, I dont know if I’m going to step up to an F-250 or not, but my satisfaction level with Ford trucks is second to none.
What drew me to the Ford initially was the leg room. See I’m a pretty big guy. I’m six five, and I weigh close to 300lbs. None of the other manufacturers had any cabs that have enough legroom for me.
Dont change a thing Ford, You got a winning product.
