1948, Ford came out with their first F-Series trucks. A line of trucks that maintained popularity for close to seven decades to date. America quickly fell in love with these trucks and then the rest of the world followed suit. They have stood the test of time.
1979, My father came home with his first F-150. It was all I could think about after being caught in its stare. It was still a few years before I would ask when I could drive it. I tried to stay on his good side in case that day would come. My patience stood the test of time.
Dad was a proud man. He was proud of his home, his family and his Ford pick up. He took care in his appearance and he took better care of his F-150. I really felt proud riding through town with him. He wasn’t very vocal, but I knew he was proud of me.
I’ve always felt these two icons were the strongest influence for the man I am today. My father had passed recently leaving behind the F-150. It is still in its prime. I can’t get behind the wheel without picturing him sitting there, telling me to be careful with his favorite Ford.
Don’t worry dad, maybe my son can tell the story of how this truck stood the test of time.
