Great Truck!

In February of 2011 I was assigned a F-150 X cab 3.7 L pick up for my job. As of today. 11/13/13 I have accumulated approx. 150,000 miles. This truck has been taken care of well, but not babied by any stretch. It has never failed me. I literally trust it with my life every day. It does not matter if it’s raining, snowing, hot or cold. The ride quality is as good s the day I got it. I have a bit of a back problem, but can take extended trips in this truck with no major problems. I have driven as far as 12 hour trips with no issues. I cannot do this in any vehicle. Maintenance reliability was excellent. I replaced a battery, front struts (one leaked) and a parking brake cable. I attribute the cable to heavy use as I live on a hill. Traction, for a two wheel drive has been amazing in all conditions. Handling has been great. At times I forget I’m driving a full size truck. In 150K, the 3.7 L engine has not burned or leaked a drop of oil. There have been no other leaks of any other fluid as well. Granted there are a lot of highway miles, but I have not had a brake job as well. It is very hard to find something not to like about this truck. I have steel wheels. The edges show a little bit of corrosion. A better edge covering primer or E cote may solve this, but hey, they are just steel rims. I like the time it takes for the engine temp to come up, it’s pretty quick, nice in the winter. High beams on the head lights could be a little brighter, not a big deal though. All the knobs and buttons worked as advertised and are robust and easy to use, even with gloves on. I learned to stick with the oem tires. When I changed tires, I went with a different brand/style and it knocked my mpg down by approx.  1-2 mpg. Power locks and windows are still running strong after a lot of use. The exhaust system has held up well after 3 winters in the rust belt. The finish and sheet metal has held up very good as well. The upholstery is very robust. I had to steam clean and scrub it several times. No rattles in the cab and dash area, zero! That drives me nuts more than anything. All lights are still good, I run headlights all the time. I cant say enough good about this truck!  My only regret is not having the funds to buy back the lease. I should have planned better. I will hate to see this truck go. I hope the replacement is a Ford. Thank you for making a solid dependable truck that not only works, but I’m proud as an American to drive every day! Kind Regards, Jerry H.

Ford needs to bring back the ford ranger with an inline 6cyl and 5 speed, in my opion the best small truck on the road. If I heard they are back on the market I would go to my dealership TODAY and order one. I drive a 99 f150 with a 4.6 v8 great truck but its not worth crap if i cant afford to drive it. There needs to be a economical vehicle for the working man, and there was one, the ford ranger.
