I've seen variations on this, but I would think that with the pure EV's like the Focus Electric, Ford could easily install a quick hookup plug to safely attach a 3000 watt inverter. Probably best going through the 12V system for safety, but allow the 23kw high volt battery supply it in a safe fashion. Then program a mode that shuts down all non-essential accessories ("external powering mode") to conserve battery. In times of emergency the 23kwh of electricity potentially stored in those batteries could be a lifesaver. Or at a minimum power a standard energy star fridge for a week or two. Ford could even offer different sized inverters depending on what the consumer needed for backup.
