Big Red!

I finally got the okay from my wife last August to go ahead and get my truck. I didn’t hesitate. Although it was during the cash for clunkers my dealer had to search for a while but they found one. This was going to be a big change for us because we had always had mini-vans. Our last was a Buick Terazza and I can tell you we don’t miss it! We have been impressed with our 09 Super Crew from the time we drove it off the lot. Talk about room inside! Ours has the 5.4 Flex fuel and 4×4. Mileage has been very good with a couple of times getting 20mpg or better on the highway! It is always impressing us and on a recent trip up north to our cottage we had Big Red loaded down. Pulling a 2 place car trailer with an ATV w/plow, 2 snowmobiles and 5 people with gear. Our trip overall averaged just about 15mpg! People will ask me how I like it and how’s the MPG and they are surprised. We are getting better fuel economy with Big Red than we did with our van. We have a family trip coming up soon and can’t wait to see how the Ford does. Great job Ford and I don’t know why I waited so long.

The rear bed light (above the back window) on a new Ford F-150 truck has no gasket to prevent the rain from leaking in between the lense and the frame and in time casung corrosion. I have made a gasket from a bicycle innertube, which is crude at best, but it appears to work. Better than water getting in. I would love to get a flat 1/8" black rubber gasket material from ford, that is cut to fit the rear light lense, so it would be a much better fit.   Is that possible? I love my 2014 Red Ford Lariat F-150, its awesome!  Purchased from Elder Ford in Tampa from Jeff Godsell, terrific salesman!  Service has been unbelievable. As good as Ford is, I can't imagine this big of an oversight. Is a gasket available??
