Anti Sway

I bought a new V-Lite trailer in Texas and pulled it back to Ohio (1,600 mi).
The trailer handeld badly because of high winds and I crossed the lanes on both the right and left even though I have a Reese weight distribution hitch with anti sway. I could have lost control and you can imagine what might have happened were it not for the anti sway system Ford utilizes. It kicked in at least 12 times on the trip and straightend the unit out.

I am going to install a Hensley hitch soon.

Question; Is 7 mpg while towing an 8,000 lb Trailer to be expected/acceptable?
