To start with my email is fordbuilttough1990 so as you can tell I\’m a Ford fan. Before I was born in 91, my parents bought their first vehicle together. One day while at the feed store they saw a green 1990 F-250 4×4 for sale with the big block 460. According to mom the truck was at a discounted price because it had been on a train in Washington State when Mt. St. Helens erupted and was covered in ash. Somehow it made its way down to Mathis TX about 35 miles north of Corpus Christi. The first thing after they bought the new truck they went mudding!
After I came around the truck needed a name so we called it Big Green No Name. For years we used that truck and everybody new us by the truck that my dad drove. All my life growing up my dad use to tell me that if I could get a chain to the moon then he could pull it with that truck! One day he got a chance to prove it. (We own our own family farm and have for 5 generations.) So one day about 6 or 7 years ago having just gotten an old 1980\’s Ford 9000 to haul our grain in, something happened to it and about 3 1/2 miles from our barn it stopped going. My dad couldn\’t leave it in the middle of the road! So he hooked it up to Big Green No Name and began to pull, he pulled it all the way to the barn up an incline, and parked it in the barn yard. Only the next day did we find out that the weight of the rig was over 91,000 lbs! About a year later dad parked the truck and about a year after that I remodeled it. It\’s now maroon with a black flatbed and I still pull eighteen wheeler trailers of hay with it from time to time. I added waterproof speakers to the outside of the bed and chrome rims. At over 330,000 miles it\’s still running strong, but I\’m thinking about changing out the engine to a diesel for better mileage and just for fun.
My dad passed away in December of 09 so it gave the truck a even more sentimental value. I hope to keep the truck in the family and my goal is to hit 1,000,000 miles eventually.
P. S. We have 8 fords on our farm! Fordbuilttough!
