Goodbye Ruby, My Girl...

Goodbye Ruby, my girl…

After 15 years and over 320,000 miles, you proved yourself to be the most reliable friend a girl could have. The road trips we took showed me parts of this country that I may never see again. You showed me the beauty of our deserts, our redwoods, our canyons, our rivers and our heartland. You partied in the best of concert lots. You saw me through college, marriage(s), multiple moves, and one beautiful baby girl. I felt like I was abandoning you when the time came for me to get a car with air and/or windows that rolled down…it’s not you, it’s me…but my prayers were answered when Jorge asked if he could have you. The picture I saw yesterday, of you in his yard with brand new seat covers, warmed my heart in ways I cannot describe. I don’t care if people don’t get it. You are my best friend. And I’m so happy you continue to be in good, loving hands. Here’s to Devils Kitchen #4, the corner of 4th and Hampton, Steubenville, and downtown Pittsburgh. Roll on Ruby, roll on.
