The Ford Expedition should revise it's engine of choice to include the 3.5 Ecoboost found on the current F-150 for both the performance boost as well as better mileage. The current 5.4-litre V8 should be discontinued altogether as it is a vastly outdated and thirsty engine.
Adding a V8 diesel engine might also be a good idea for foreign markets where diesels are much more popular. The best example of this is Toyota's Land Cruiser which has a 4.5L turbo diesel in other parts of the world.
