Thank You

I purchased a 2009 Ford Escape in July. And I loved it. On Sunday October 11, 2009 at approximately 1:00am my roommate who was our designated driver didn’t realize there was a 90 degree turn in the road because it is very poorly marked, and we were going 100km/hr when we shot off the end of the road, jumped a gravel road, did a nose dive at approx. 90km/hr where we stopped instantly, then flipped once in the air and landed facing the way we came. 2 out of the 5 of us were not wearing seat belts, they were both in the back. All of the air bags deployed, all of the windows stayed intact, and you could open all 4 doors after the crash. Everything but the cab was destroyed. Everyone had minor injuries except for the fellow who was not wearing his seat belt sitting behind the driver. But he is home and on his way to recovery. I just want to thank you guys for the wonderful job you did designing this vehicle to keep your customers safe. My 4 best friends, 2 of which did not have their seat belts on, are still alive, and I’m not sure things would have worked out this way had we been in a different or older vehicle. I was in the front passenger seat and I only sustained bruising, some cracked ribs and whiplash because we were going so fast when we stopped. I have a 2010 Ford Escape on the way, since mine was totaled, and my mom drives a 2009 Ford Escape which she LOVES, and my Dad has a 2006 Super Duty which he also loves, and then we have 5 Ford farm trucks between 1975 and 1995, and one 1979 lariat that Dad and I drag race. So we are definitely a Ford family! But once again, thank you so much for working so hard to make these vehicles safe. And hopefully I have my 2010 Escape for a loooong time! Great job guys!

I have a 2012 Ford Focus. I love it and have gotten up to 42 mph highway. But the interior design has led to some surprising safety issues which I would like to point out. The shiny chrome trim on the steering wheel, dashboard and stick shift reflect sunlight when the sun is low in the sky (as it is here in winter) and even though I always wear sunglasses, I have had to drive with my hand over that portion of the steering wheel to keep from being blinded from the glare. This is something your engineers might want to address on future models. Thank you.
