My Ford Fleet

My dad started our family owned Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing business in 1966 and our first truck was a brand new red 1966 Ford Pick-up with a “three on the tree” gear shifter. We have stayed with red Ford Pick-up trucks ever since. In the mid 80’s, we bought a few economical Ford Rangers. However, we have switched back to the full size extended cab pick-ups. Our fleet also includes larger heavy duty Fords utilized for our three (3) drill rigs and two (2) dump trucks among a few Taurus wagons, Escorts, an Escape, and an Explorer. Currently we have a total of 34 Ford vehicles and one Ford backhoe. Personally, my family has two 5.0 Mustangs and two Ford Explorers. My wife and I both had 5.0’s when we met eighteen (18) years ago. Even though my dad passed away two years ago, I plan to keep Ford as our only choice. Keep making those high quality, durable vehicles!!
Today, I still drive the same 1991 Ford F-150 truck that my dad drove and plan to give it to my son (8) when he turns 16. The truck has 315,500 miles on the original engine. It is a little rusty but it runs great! My son wants to restore it someday. I sure wish I had my dad’s first Ford Pick-up truck.

Ford, The world really does want to buy a small Ranger pick up truck with a diesel engine. I have been getting lovely responses from folks at Ford saying is ton't happen but with no explanation of why not. Trust me. There's a market for a nimble and efficient little commuter/truck for all us boomers who have toys and stuff to lug around, who know how to drive stick, and who are downsizing. You make Rangers for every other market and you make some decent small diesels. Please give this a good long thought and do some market research among potential buyers. Either you aren't asking the right questions or you aren't asking the right people.
