Edge To Edge

Last summer I upgraded from a Ford Focus to a Ford Edge. We were looking for a safer vehicle for our growing family. I’ve always loved the Edge and was thrilled to be able to find an affordable 2012 for us! Two nights ago, traveling about 45 mph, I was struck nearly head on by another Edge trying to make a left hand turn. This was especially scary as I had my 2 1/2 year old son in the back, and am 9 months pregnant (actually one day past my due date during the accident). Both vehicles were totaled. Thankfully my son, baby and I walked away with only minor bumps and bruises, and the driver of the other Edge was fine and declined any medical attention. We are so thankful for the safety of the Edge! Now I’m 3 days over due awaiting the arrival of our little one, and anxious to begin shopping for a new Edge for our family. Thank you, Ford. Wish I could add more pictures as I have some of the other Edge as well, but this is at the scene.

I am very much intrigued with Ford’s plan to provide the new 2.7 L Ecoboost engine in the 2015 Edge. What may be very disappointing to me is how in the past Ford creates exclusive model packages such that you cannot setup the vehicle as I want. I have been an Explorer owner since 1993 and am now ready to down size to Edge but I still would like a 2 inch trailer hitch and roof rack. I would also prefer to have more rubber between the winter potholes and the expensive rims. I hope to have the option to build my Edge with the 2.7L Ecoboost, 2 inch hitch, roof rack, and tires for light off road and Iowa winter road conditions. We will see soon.
