S-H-O

It all started in 1996, I must have been 4 to 5 years old when I first experienced it. A rush of speed fused with g-forces and a smoky scent. I remember like it was yesterday; my dad’s 1995 Ford Taurus SHO. S-H-O that word makes me smile, one has to stop and pronounce every letter by itself to get this feeling. Yes, my essay is about a car but a car that has changed my life. This vehicle created a bond between my father and myself that can never be broken. Like I said before, this started when I was really young but it changed my life forever.

My dad dumped the clutch at 7,000 rpm(revolution per minute) changed gear and the car shrieked to life. My heart must have been at a million revolutions. Joy, fear, craziness, all mixed into one. My dad on the other hand had the time of his life. Then came third gear and the car kept roaring to speed but I started getting used to it.

The corner craving mad man entered my dad’s head. He attacked and conquered those corners with no fear while I was in the backseat almost passing out. This feeling came and went almost every Sunday; until I moved to Florida in 1998. He sold the car but the feelings and emotions stayed.

Years have passed, I am now 17 but I still think of that car and the good times I had in it. When I grow up I plan to buy a 1993-95 Ford Taurus S-H-0 to relive my past. The S-H-O created the passion I have for vehicle(Fords) and motor sports. Because of m love affair with cars I now plan to study mechanical engineering and hopefully work at Ford Motor Company. Working at Ford would be a privilege and a dream come true for me.

This is an Essay I wrote for my English class, showing my love to Ford. I got A 100 for this essay. thanks Ford for making my childhood fun and being the topic of my essay.
P.S This isn’t the real car but its exactly the same one.

Randy My sister and I, we were 4 and 5 back in 68' when my Dad got his GT-500 Shelby Mustang. We use to grab onto the roll bar when he floored it to handle the G-force.

Mitch Man I know exactly how you feel, my dad had a 88 Thunderbird turbo coupe when I was young. Now he has a 03 lincoln ls which I drive sometimes. There is no better feeling then getting put back into the seat.

Maurice I'm sorry but I don't think smoking the tires, slamming gears and 'attacking corners with no fear' is the safest or smartest thing to do with a very young child in the back seat.

I think SUVs/Pickups/Crossovers should have two steering modes: One for city/off-road driving that should be light and require minimal effort from the driver, and another sportier one for normal driving, with good feedback, road feel, and response. This allows consumers to have the best of both worlds - they maintain maneuverability and comfort in tight situations or when trying to do some serious off-roading, and it further improves Fords' already good road manners. The 'normal' mode will not only inspire even more confidence in routine and emergency handling situations, but will also further improve the driving experience, and please enthusiast drivers like myself, who may need big car practicality from time to time, but don't want to sacrifice the excellent driving experience of Ford's more agile cars, like the Mustang, Focus, Fiesta, Fusion, Taurus, etc.
