233072 Miles On My 2000 Taurus
NOV
02

I work “in the field” for a major insurance company traveling to hospitals and medical offices around the state of North Carolina. I rec’d this care as a fleet vehicle. When the fleet was discontinued a year later- I purchased the car from the company. As you can see I have 233,072 miles on this car and the original motor.
My husband and son have done the majority of the maintenance on it for me. I still rely on it to travel at least twice a month to Durham NC from the mountains of WNC round trip 500 miles.
I’d recommend Taurus very highly. American cars can now go head to head with the foreign cars no question. The new model looks great – I’d love to drive one.

DH My wife and I got a 2001 Taurus SEL and proceeded to put over 202,000 miles on it. Only one "major repair" (transmission seal) in the whole time. She only got regular maintenance beyond that one incident. The interior started to show some wear (read: two young boys basically grew up in "Old Gold"). She still ran well (22 MPG in Atlanta!) when I traded her in.....for a 2010 SHO! I love my Taurus!!!

Bruce Coeling Ever since the Taurus came out in '86, I drove them, and I have to say am more than satisfied with all. I currently own a 2004 SEL with the 24 valve engine, one tough dude, for the first 100,000 miles I would crank it up to 6500 RPM from first gear thru second. It runs still like new, no noise, no oil burning like many Chrysler products, and with 135,000 on it, I never even replaced a light bulb! Nothing! Just gas and go. My last payment is now due the 10th of Feb.! The new SHO is awesome, 365 HP V-6! Try one, it'll blow your hair back!

KC I have owned a few Tauruses before getting my '05 Mustang & loved those cars. My 2000 Taurus is currently driven by my parents (replaced transmission in '05) & is still going strong. I loved the sleek style of the late 90's -'07, great stereo system, gripping brake system, the VERY responsive transmission& the safety the Taurus offered. But when I saw the new Taurus, I wanted to cry. They took a very cool, trim looking car & turned it into a fat nerdmobile. Ford did away with the 500, but carried over the same style & dubbed in a Taurus. As I said on the other Taurus page, the new Taurus looks too much like the Chrysler 300 & they turned a cool car which had a young appeal & made it into an old folgie. The took the leather jacket & tramp stamp off of her & put her in a floral housedress, bunny slippers, & hair curlers.

The Taurus however long it has been around has never had a 3-spoke steering wheel. and i think it just doesn't fit with the car.
3 Spoke steering wheel...not for the Taurus...
