KC I was a major fan of the Taurus until it was meshed with the 500 & came out looking like the Chrysler 300, the car I refer to as "the rolling bathtub." Bring back the sleekness & do away the the "chubby" look, small windows & the generic look & the Taurus fans will be happier. All the bells & whistles are cool, but the all too common look just screams 'MIDDLE AGE APROACHETH!" I'm not overly familiar with the chassises of any of the ford cars, or even if this idea would work, but I thought i'd throw it out there. What if towards the roof end of the a,b, and c pillars, the pillars had a type of spring loaded system. The idea behind it is to provide some type of shock absorption in the case of a rollover.
