My Dad purchased this 1966 Mustang Coup 289 C4 automatic transmission in November, 1978, while looking for a good used car for the oldest son of his three sons to drive during his high school years. I was 14 years old at the time and spent the next few months rebuilding the engine and helping my uncle repaint the car. I still remember the day when I turned 15 and he pitched me the keys saying “She’s yours”. For the next four years it was mine until graduation.
I was off to college with a newer model car and the Mustang was passed to my middle brother who drove it during his four high school years. When my middle brother left for college the cycle started again and Mustang was passed to my youngest brother who drove it during his four high school years.
In 1989, the Mustang was put into a garage and set until 2005. Being older and more appreciative of the Mustang, I decided to get it out and start driving it again. My son and I have now completely restored the Mustang. He turns 16 in less than a week and yesterday, I pitched him the keys and said, “She’s yours”. You should have seen his eyes.
