Old School/new School
MAY

I was just a kid back in 1967 when a family friend stopped by the house with a 1966 Shelby GT350H, the high performance “rent a racer” promotion vehicle that Hertz, Ford and Shelby teamed together to promote the Shelby Mustang to potential buyers. It was my first ride in a muscle car and clearly where I caught the bug for building project cars. My current project is a 2003 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra Convertible that I bought new in October 2003. I’ve modified the car from the suspension up, keeping it as close to an “old school” look as possible, inspired by that Shelby so long ago. The 4.6 has 718 horses at the crank, 609 rwhp, 550 lbs. ft. torque. I built this Mustang for show and go, though it’s never been raced. I enter it in competitive shows regularly and take it out to local cruise-in’s. The car was featured in the November 2009 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine.
