My First Car

When I was 17, I matched the front and back of a car in a Standard Oil contest (my boyfriend’s father owned a Standard Oil Station in Des Moines, Iowa).  I therefore won a beautiful light blue Mach I, much to my mom’s dismay.

My boyfriend was attending the University of Iowa and while I was suppose to be staying all night with a girlfriend, I headed to Iowa City via I 80.  I came across an ambulance and decided to see if I could go faster, and I did.    Unfortunately, the Iowa Highway Patrol was in the vacinity.  I did lose my license and almost went to jail!

I later reunited with the car through marriage to my boyfriend so all was well!
