I’ve always had a soft spot for Stangs, even being only 22 now, I always liked vintage cars, stangs in particular. I spent the time from 15 years old to 18 years searching around for the one that would be mine, and eventually found it 500 miles away in California. So off I went to go pick it up and drive it back. Had a couple issues because of the firing order issue that I didn’t know about on those 289’s, and though it led to a complete rebuild being needed, it made it home and then some. (over the 500 mile trip, lost power steering, kept blowing out the over flow hose on the radiator, and eventually, the crossfire issue fried the 7th and 8th cylinders completely, and the sudden heat change from the long trip to -15 degrees on a very abnormally cold utah night cracked a manifold completely in two.) After all that, though hard to start, it would, every time i needed it to. She’s a tough old pony, but after she was fixed up, she made the 1400 mile trip to Texas for the Army, and is looking at a 2600 mile trip to Washington here in about a month, can’t wait!
