I am the proud owner of a 2012 Ford Mustang V6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. The vehicle is completely stock with no modifications.
During a trip last weekend I drove from Sioux City, Iowa to Wichita, KS. The trip is usually about 450 miles. What surprised the hell out of me was the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
I started out the trip by filling my tank in Sioux City, Iowa. After filling up I also reset my trip odometer. I then started off on my trip and as I was within a 100 miles of my destination I looked at my fuel gauge to see if I needed to fuel up. Much to my surprise the fuel gauge was showing about 3/8 of a tank left. I completed my journey and the fuel gauge still showed about 1/4 tank left over. I looked at my odometer and saw that I had traveled 446.6 miles. I pulled into the gas station in Wichita, KS and filled up to find out that I had expended 13.375 gallons of gas along this trip.
That meant that I had averaged 33.39 mpg, all while driving 80 mph (the entire way).
Ford completely outdid itself on the new Mustang. With fuel efficiency plus power like this, plus a sticker price under $24000, you just cant beat that.
