Before I could use school glue I knew what car I wanted. I wanted a blue Mustang like my big brother’s. He drove me around in it all the time. One time he even let me sit in his lap and steer the wheel around the neighborhood. I loved it. In kindergarten I made this collage of his Blue 1965 Mustang and it won second place and was hung with a red ribbon down at the local convenience store for all of my town to see.
Years later about the time the economy started to go bad I was working for a company that manufactured Ford dealer signage. My job was still paying well and my wife and I were doing well. Ford offered employee discounts to the public and so I finally bought the car of my dreams.
Four days later, myself and over 300 fellow employees lost our jobs when the company went under. We almost had to give the car back, but fortunately the bank worked with us and a couple months later I had a new job and we’re all okay now.
The other day I let my little boy sit in my lap to steer the wheel as we drove the new Mustang around the neighborhood.
