My Hand Me Down Mercury Will Not Quit.

My father purchased the 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis with 8 miles on it. He drove is for several years and when to trade in the vehicle with close to 200,000 miles. The trade in value was very low so my father gave the vehicle to me to drive. The vehicle now has 283,249 miles on it and running strong. I drove the vehicle to Missouri over this summer and to Arkansas the summer before. It has never let me down or left me stranded.
It is comfy and rides great. It is the original engine and transmission. I plan on traveling another 200,000 miles or so. Everyone thinks that it is time for a new car but how do you get rid of a vehicle with nothing wrong with it. I work at a Ford dealership in Indiana and I swear by Maintenance. This is the best car I have ever owned. Thank you Ford for making such a great automobile.

Lately I have been seriously concidersidering buying a Toyota Tacoma because of the size of the truck and durability to last over 200,000 miles. I've been a ford guy since I was a kid riding around in my dads F150. As ive gotten older my dad and i both have said that if ford would biuld a smaller version of the F150 and called it a Ranger that we would buy them in a heartbeat. It has been awhile since the Ranger had a body change but by adding 4 doors like the F150 supercrew would make this truck a top seller. Also, by putting a bigger engine with more fetures this truck would fly off the assembly line like crazy. I would also suggest offroad packages to allow versitility to the trucks well being. I think a 5.4 Triton would be perfect for this truck with 4x4 capability. This truck would make ford alot of money and would allow many people to be able to get a Ford truck but in a smaller package but big enough to carry their family and friends and big loads around and be good on gas for a daily driver.
