Our 2000 Grand Marquis with 225,000 miles still gets 30 mpg on the highway.
I have gotten as high as 33 mpg.
What a great car!
Extremely comfortable too!.
I read today that Lincoln sales have shrunk in recent years, and they want to attract a younger market. I suggest they start by changing the goofy styling of the grille and rear to make it more subtle with less chrome. A turbo diesel appropriately sized to achieve 40-50 mpg highway should still provide plenty of torque. If it had AWD, I would buy one myself in a sedan or wagon the size of an Audi A-4 Avant.
This idea would attract the current market of 65+ as well as the younger market. People who want to buy American yet have the choice offered to buyers in Europe and most of the rest of the world, i.e. fuel efficient diesels and regular old station wagons.
