Breast Cancer Awareness Month Gift

My wife, Alison is a five + year breast cancer survivor. She totally supports and gets involved in many local cancer events. She is asked to speak at several of these events and volunteers to speak at many others.
Alison does everything she can from helping those fighting cancer and their families and friends find information and support online at acs.org, and local and national events to getting information to those who just want to help in the fight and especially to those who have lost loved ones to cancer and want to keep their memory and fight alive so we can end cancer in this lifetime.
Every October I buy Alison a special gift to celebrate life.
This year I decided to do something very special and very different.
I presented my ideas to Lucinda at Gulfcoast Graphics and she went to work creating a one of a kind gift.
Monday is our “Date Night” and Monday, October 12 was going to be a special night. That’s when gave Alison her October 2009 gift.
The timing was perfect, not only had Alison asked again that morning about her October gift, she was also asked to speak at a cancer awareness meeting that evening.
Later that afternoon as Alison was getting ready for her speaking engagement, I asked her if she could step outside for a minute. After I was told “this is not a good time, I’m trying to get ready” she finally said OK.
After the puzzled, “what now” look I got when I asked her to close her eyes, she finally did and I guided her outside to the front of the house. After several minutes (and much impatience and “what’s going on” on her part) I told her to open her eyes.
Alison went absolutely crazy, screaming with excitement when she saw her one of a kind Warriors in Pink Ford Fusion.
This car has become her rolling ambassador in her daily quest for cancer awareness. Everywhere it’s parked this Ford Fusion draws a crowd. Lawyers, doctors and folks of all walks of life gather around the car, many staying to ask Alison questions ranging from their own cancer concerns to “what is Warriors in Pink and how can get more information about it”, to “who makes that car and where can I get one like it?”
As she always does, Alison is very happy to answer all their questions and do whatever she can to offer support, information and hope to those who ask, including giving her own phone number and email address to help others.
She is a very special person who deserves this very special car!

James D. McIntire Sir, God bless you and your wife on her victory against cancer. I lost my mother a few years ago to cancer after a 4 year long battle. I am well aware of the toll it takes, not only on the patient, but the family as well. I am always pleased to a victory story against this awful disease. Please give your wife my congrarulations on her victory, and I hope she keeps the faith, and keeps up the fight.

The 2013 Ford Fusion looks great, but I would love to see a manual option across all the models, not just the bottom. There may be a more sporty option in the works, but hopefully it will not blow the budget. Thanks!
