My husband and my father were always Ford men, so I grew up and learned to drive in a Ford Falcon, then married a Ford Econoline owner,so your cars have always been a part of my life. When our daughter turned 16 My husband promised her a car of her own, He died suddenly in May of 2009. So, in order to fulfill his promise to our daughter, I bought her a new Ford Focus with his life insurance money. I was impressed with the safety features and the price. (and it was cute) She graduated high school in 2010 and started college at the University of Alabama on a full achedemic scholarship. I felt secure knowing she was 100 miles away in a reliable car.
This past Saturday, she was hit from behind by a Dodge van at high speed. She and her passenger walked away from the wreck. She had some minor back pain from the impact, but not even a bruise! I am waiting to find out if the car is a total loss.
As a mom, I wish I had a big enough word to express my thanks for a car that could take that impact and keep my only child safe.
It breaks my heart that she will most likely loose the car her daddy promised her. He taught her to drive and made sure she could always find her way home without a GPS. They were very close and shared many adventures in the car on road trips. Their last road trip together, he suffered a fatal heart attack while she stood by helplessly. That Ford Focus was a piece of her dad and a source of joy and comfort. Now we are convinced it saved her life.
I will replace that little car with another Ford, have no doubt.
Thank You Ford
