My 2011 Ford Focus was put to the test as three of us re-enactors drove to Leesburg, Virginia, for the 150th anniversary of the battle of Ball’s Bluff. We had muskets, packs, an early-war A-tent with poles, provisions for three days, equipment including canteens and bayonets, and great coats. The car did very well. We folded the right-rear seat down to accommodate muskets and tent poles. The car drove well; we enjoyed the stereo system and the SYNC phone feature, and were not cramped or crowded. I was able to get up to 37 mpg even in stop-and-go traffic. Bottom line, there were no drawbacks, and we had an enjoyable trip.
