I was married on July 24, 2010 in Baudette, Minnesota which is a small town located on the Canadian border. One of the main props in my wedding photos was my Dad’s 1937 Ford. My husband and I got to cruise around town in style all day of the wedding! It was a big deal for my husband to get behind the wheel of the car because my Dad has only let a handful of people drive the car. My husband jokes that he doesn’t know which was harder for my Dad that day; giving his daughter away… or letting him drive his ’37.
The car has a lot of meaning to our family. My Dad and his Father-in-Law found the 1937 Ford Tudor Flatback Sedan with a 60 hp flathead motor on an old farm in 1971. Restoration began in 1998 and was completed in 2003. I remember coming home from college on weekends excited to see the progress my Dad would make on his car. Friends, relatives and neighbors all would stop by the “shop” on numerous occasions to see the progress of the car. The restoration project turned my Dad’s shop into quite a social affair.
The car is now powered by a 302 cu. In. ford V-8 with some performance options, which is coupled to a C-4 Ford Transmission and 3:55 street gears. The car is great fun to drive and always gets a lot of looks when we cruise around town.
