"Sally" Spelt Freedom In Our '39 V8

It was about 1955 when my dad was recovering from a severe post war stress related condition. At this time we had a ‘27 Oakland car which only served as transport, certainly not pleasure. My Dad two best friends where both Ford mechanics & they helped him tremendously. Dad saw the ‘39 Standard 4 door for sale so he &Mum bought it. This opened up a new life for our family, after our friends overhauled the engine, we borrowed a bond wood caravan from our neighbour and travelled from Melbourne Victoria to southern New South Wales onward to Adelaide South Australia & returned to Melbourne. We named our car Sally (i’m not sure where the name come from) This car lives forever in our family memories. Mum & Dad are gone now & so is our sister. I have always dreamt of owning a ‘39 or even driving one. I am 63 years old now with failing health and could not financially afford to buy one. But dreams are free so I’ll have as many as I please. My current vehicle now carries the registration number. AX 044 . I have seen quite a few Deluxe models but to find an unmolested Standard 4 door is almost unheard of in Australia I can only assume that because of the war they became a very short civilian assembly life. Can any body contact me if they know of one, I would love to talk to them.
