Thank You For Saving My Daughter's Life

I have a 1992 Ford Escort wagon and I love this car. But now I have an even more important reason to love it. Last Thursday at 12:30 am, my 19-year old daughter called, ”Mom, I’ve been in an accident and I’m upside down in the car.” The terror in her voice was absolutely chilling. Caitlin was driving on a California freeway, when a car to the right of her turned suddenly into her lane, and she had to turn sharply and put on the brakes to try to get out of the way. She hit the center divider, rolled over several times (sparks flying) and landed upside down. Somehow, her cell phone ended up right next to her as she hung upside down in the seat belt and shoulder harness which (thankfully) held her tight – that’s when she called me. Although she was surounded by destruction, with broken glass, everywhere, that seat belt and shoulder harness held her fast and she unclicked it, let herself out of the car, and was standing on the road, waiting for the police when they arrived at the scene. She was kept overnight in the hospital for observation, just to be safe, but my daugher is alive and well – THANKS TO YOU. Thank you, Ford, for making a car that even after 17 years kept my daughter safe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I own a 2010 Fusion, and my wife owns a 2012 Fusion. I noticed when driving her car that the rear head rests stick up so high that the view in the rearview mirror is partially obstructed. In comparing the two cars, I found that the head rests in my car are recessed down into the seat and can be adjusted up to the proper height when needed, while her car has the bottom of the head rest sitting near flush to the top of the seatback. I believe returning to the previous design would increase the safety of the vehicle by eliminating this visibility issue.
