143k Miles Of Trouble-free Top-down Enjoyment
NOV
21

Everyone who knows me knows that I love my little 1993 Mercury Capri. With over 143,000 miles on the odometer, she keeps going strong. The engine runs well and I’ve had very few major mechanical problems. Hardly any rust, too. What a great little Australian-built convertible this is! Every spring, I can’t wait to take the removable hard top off to enjoy the fresh sun and air. Even when this car was new–and still today–people stop and ask me, “what is that cute car?” Last winter, I decided at the last minute to join my friends who were snow skiing in Northern Michigan. There was a full-on blizzard out there with snow drifts on the freeway even but my Capri hummed along without any trouble, heat blasting out every mile of the way.

I wish Ford would make another cabriolet like this car. Bring the Ford Focus Cabrio from Europe here and sell it as a Lincoln, maybe. The Mustang is nice but it is heavy, big and isn’t in the same league as most roadsters like the Miata and Capri.

Bambino Capri I also own a Ford Capri, 1991 SA II. She is my project car and is now in near immaculate condition straight body with a custom paint job. This car was built/designed for a purpose and because of this I hope that it will become a car of interest. The Mazda B6D 1.6L DOHC Engine is great zippy and reactive. There is no better feeling that cruising down the motorwar to the Gold Coast on a sunny day with the top down, In the two years that I have had this vehicle I always get comments on her. I also have a friend who owns a 1994 Capri. If you look you will notice that ford do not manfacture convertibles for a long period of time, the last convertible released in Australia was the Ford Focus Coupe which was only manufacture for about 3yrs before being discontinued!! They are not many of these vehicles in Australia and most wee exported which was what they awere designed for, even rarer is to find one in good condition. I would happily show off my Australia Capri in a Capri Car show

I think the mustang needs to be trimmed down a bit in the body. Maybe take a page from the GT. I keep thinkin of a blocky mustang in bright yellow that looks like a kids toy car. How about a style that says im as aggressive as i sound?
