OK so - 3300 kids died horrific deaths in 2011 by being forgotten in the back seats of their parent/guardian's vehicles in horrific temps (right now its the heat but they are also found frozen to death int he winter). I wont mention how many dogs die that way too. We have all the bells & whistles nowdays - if we leave our lights on or keys in the ignition DING DING DING when you open your door right? So how hard would it be to install a weight sensor throughout the backseats and cargo areas? ANY weight in either place - and DING DING DING you left something in the backseat/cargo area! If its groceries etc., you look and shut the door go on your way - BUT if its your kid or dog and you forrgot about them..... ! Sure would like the engineering/design team to read this one. : 0)

Brad B Hey Ford ! I'll be the first to say I'm sorry for the loss of Parents whose child/children have been taken this way. When our son was young we placed him in the center of the back seat, the top of a little head was always just in the view of the rear view mirror. Just a little common sense goes a long way. Also not using the Parent tech-no-toys such as the cell phone can make a difference. Our children and pets will be happier and healthier. 9 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Michael L Interesting idea but how would it know? Child seats weigh all kinds of different weights and a newborn would hardly register 9 months(s) ago via Ford Social
