Side turning lamps
A very important safety concern that was addressed with high end models - Lincolns, Continentals, Thunderbirds, etc. - is turning at unlit intersections onto a dark street without being able to detect if a pedestrian or cyclist is crossing the road. The simple and low cost of addition of side turning lamps on ALL vehicles would eliminate this blind area at night, not unlike those found on the aforementioned models. Without them, you are driving blind while turning at an unlit intesection. This is especially evident when going from a vehicle with the side turning lamps to one without them. This matter is more important than the government mandated side blind spot warning signal, as you can do without this by just turning your head, but you cannot do anything about turning onto a dark side road and hoping there is no pedestrian crossing the road, as your headlamps are useless until you have already completed the turn, which is too late.
