Several issues here: 1-Glare from sun blanks out being able to see gauges. 2-Driving with lights on during the day dims dash lighting and makes glare issue worse. 3-Wearing sunglasses makes both issues worse yet. 4-Dim dash lights when driving with lights on during the day could cause accidents due to not being able to see radio, heat/ac, and other settings and taking attention away from road to try and read them.
Suggestion #1: try glare-free clear plastic over gauges instead of shiny, reflecting clear plastic.
Suggestion #2: allow dash lights to be brighter during the day when driving with lights on to make them more legible.
This is problem on my '10 Taurus & '08 Mustang.
