Over the years cars have gotten quieter and car sound systems have gotten better and louder, yet sirens on emergency vehicles haven't really changed at all. Today even if the radio is turned off it is so quit in the car with the windows up that you struggle to figure out where the emergency vehicle is coming from if you hear it at all.
Install an emergency vehicle direction finder so that when the EMS, FD, or PD turns on their siren a directional indicator and tone alerts the driver to the hazard. This system would benefit all drivers in avoiding a collision with emergency vehicles, the person needing mediacl assistance in the first place , and the emergency vehicle driver as the traffic would be better alerted and able to move out of the way allowing them to pass.
