If you exit the vehicle with it running, someone else can get in and drive off, and the disabling of the starter does not occur until the can is shut off and there is an attempt to restart it the next time.
Is there a way to update the software so that if the FOB was not detected it would disable the vehicle if someone tried to put it in drive?
This would enhance the anti-theft effectiveness of the keyless system - no Fob, no go - the car would become disabled until the FOB was detected again.

Jeffrey Z Simply shut it off when you are away from it. Unless you are a policeman, or EMT, there is no reason to leave your vehicle running while you are not in it. Mine IS equipped with a remote starter, that allows a 15 minute run time with no person near, or inside. 3 months(s) ago via Ford Social
