You will lose more patronage than it's worth if you cancel these models. By all means, use common chassis etc, but the world isn't the same. We don't all like the same styles. Personalising styles for countries or regions is a plus and will probably earn you more respect rather than marketing a car under one badge and style around the world.
I actually notice similarities between the US 2011 Explorer and the Australian 2008 Territory although the Explorer interior has a more Mazda look about it. I like it to a point but, again, the previous paragraph should be noted. The Australian 2011 Territory has a styling that is more suited to Australian tastes and wouldn't sell very well in the US
