Hybrid Highway Commuter
I would like to see a hybrid vehicle that gets better gas mileage going 75 mph than when it is in the city. I think an ecoboost engine that has the ability to switch to electric or turn off cylinders when cruising on the highway and coupled with a six speed auto with different gearing could increase fuel mileage. I commute 110 miles a day and am in the city 1/3 and highway 2/3 of the time and need a total fuel economy rating of 41mpg or better. By incorporating a turbo like the ecoboost will give a better power to fuel consumption ratio. Add highway gearing (race tuning) to keep RPM's low at high speeds, and either an electric motor or less cylinders when less power is needed and there could be a highly fuel efficient vehicle for the highway commuter.
