I am currently buying a 2014 Ranger Xlt crew cab in the Fiji Islands with the 5 cylinder ecoboost diesel engine and 6 speed automatic that will achieve 30 mpg's and can tow 7000 pounds. This is the best mid sized truck in the world and for some reason, North America does not get it. Ford says the ranger was discontinued in the US because of poor sales. Well duh, it was not updated in like 20 years and was ugly, had crap mpg, etc.. Ford needed to keep the Ranger updated to keep it relevant. And they failed to do so. I don't want to hear the excuse from Ford that folks would not buy the Global Ranger with a diesel that is completely up to date in every way. Btw, its not ugly anymore. I also don't like how Ford is dealing with the problem by shaving off 700 lbs off the F-150 and dropping a 2.7 ecoboost into it. Sure, it may get close to 30 mpg's but it's still a tank. Not just talking about the wheelbase which is not too differenct then the new ranger on some configurations but the width on the F-150 is the same as a class C motorhome for petes sakes. Its not an easy truck to drive around town. People want the global Ranger with the 5 cylinder diesel. You better believe it. Just wait until the dakata comes back and GM comes back to the mid sized with updated designs. Ford needs to build a plant to build the global ranger in the US and do that Asap. I understand about the 20 percent import tax on trucks. Please ford, do this. There are many like myself who will never purchase the tank that is the F-150. Never.
