We all know that most engine wear happens during startup, in those seconds when the oil pressure is near zero. The solution is already available as an aftermarket item; an auxilliary electric oil pump that works in parallel with existing mechanical oil pump. This should be a standard feature on all internal combustion engines. As the ignition switch is turned to "start," the electric oil pump is started; the starter itself does not activate until the oil pressure reaches 10 psi. When oil pressure reaches 15 psi the electric pump is turned off.
