The incoming 2013 Fusion looks amazing but I think it could use some more attention in the powertrain department. A ST model could be equipped with turbocharged 2.5l I-4 which is already the base model engine. This level of performance would most directly compete with the 274hp Sonata and Optima. A SHO model equipped with the 3.5l ecoboost (and upgraded with Variable Valve Timing) could easily be in the 400+hp range and compete with Audi S4, BMW M3 and the new Cadillac ATS-V. Fusion is the new flagship car for Ford, it will already have outstanding fuel economy, so why not make a Fusion performance model a force to be reckoned with?

Monroe W Agreed! Only 240hp from the 2.0 EcoBoost just doesn't cut it. 6 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Tudor I would absolutely buy a 350+ hp AWD Fusion. In fact I am waiting for it to happen as I love the car but feel it is underpowered in the 2.0L Ecoboost trim. 7 months(s) ago via Ford Social

Schscha L Come on Ford let the SVT team put out a Fusion SVT. I'm ready for a new Fusion but I want performance. 1 year(s) ago via Ford Social
Rory O If you want it in 2-door, why wouldn't you just buy a Mustang? For the original idea, I've heard rumor of a 2.3 Ecoboost. That could easily crest 300 ponies, and I think that would be sufficient for a Fusion ST. Going all ecoboost V6 on it would seem like it would be an engineering nightmare for a 4-cyl only car. 1 year(s) ago via Ford Social
