If ford wants to get rid of the ford ranger totally because of the f-150 ecoboost engine. Why not just keep the ranger and put an ecoboost engine in it? im sure not EVERYONE that wants a ford truck wants a full sized f-150. i know i dont, and i know great granpa did...before he died....

I have driven full sized 'pentastar' conversion vans for 11 years. Good vehicles. I always wanted to go with an E series but the other brand (uni-body) van was always way less costly at comparable condition and mileage. When you're moving or hauling and need the volume or weight capacity, there is nothing like a full sized truck - van to do the job, almost effortlessly too.
I look forward to getting my first Ranger maybe next year. I will be using it mostly for general driving and occasionally light hauling. I got my wife an Edge last year. This year I am helping my son get his first new car - Fiesta. So, financially I will have to look at Ranger next year.
It will be a mid 2000's extended cab (for versatility), raised cap on a lined bed, mostly loaded 4 cyl manual trans 2WD. I will 2 tone it and do a matching 2 tone interior to put some actual color inside besides GRAY. The most difficult part will be installing the Eco-Boost and getting full computerized function. It will be fuel efficient and have more power than I need.
RANGER. What else would you want? You could get a deal on something else, but they would have to offer it at less than 1/2 price to be of sufficient economic value to even consider. (My first car was a Mustang...) 4 months(s) ago via Ford Social
russell martin used to own one great vehicle would sell better if there were more variations like the colorado/canyon has, also needs 2.0eco that with 4wd would be the best truck ever 4 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Steve Kuljis Ford should keep the ranger. I own 6 fords, three are trucks a F-350 4X4, F-250 and a Ranger all bought new. I use the ranger for 60% of my work related business. I have bought 3 Rangers new since 1989. They are very reliable and all of them ran well over 100,000 miles with multiple drivers and then were bought by employees who got a lot more use out of them. The ranger filled a need. It is not a good idea to force a loyal customer to buy from a competitor. I think with some new technology Ford could offer the best small truck on the market for years to come. A 55,000 unit sales is a serious amount of vehicles and a large number of customers to ignore. 5 months(s) ago via Ford Social
Clifford Spencer YES, Matt! I totally agree! The F-150 is just too big for MY needs. I haul dogs (with a canopy). I prefer something that gets good gas mileage, has some pep, and is easy to manuver. 5 months(s) ago via Ford Social
